Reilly and Shanie first met in 2007 while working at Gene Juarez Salon and Spa in Seattle, Washington. They shared a love and passion for creating beauty through hair and makeup... and instantly became friends! Over the next eight years, they styled for brides-to-be, created inspiring and exciting looks for photo shoots, executed hair and makeup during Seattle's Fashion Week, and participated in numerous in-house salon events. It was those experiences and opportunities that helped shape their successful early careers.

After discussing what an exciting next step might be, Reilly and Shanie decided to collaborate and create r.s.hairandmakeup, a hair and makeup styling team. With their modern aesthetic, attention to detail, and passion for their work, r.s.hairandmakeup will leave you feeling your absolute best! Having worked on various formal events and with brides for many years, Reilly and Shanie pride themselves on making sure that every client has a fun and relaxing experience. The team serves sunny Santa Barbara, the central coast, and is open to traveling.

S: Who and where do you get your fashion inspiration?

R: I love street fashion! Whenever I need some inspiration I go straight to The Sartorialist (www.thesartorialist.com). Also one of my favorite fashion icons is Iris Apfel. If you don't know of her, look her up! This amazing woman knows how to dress and accessorize to perfection. I wanna be like her when I'm 95 years old!

S: If you could get your hands on any famous person's hair, who would that be and why?

R: I would have loved to do Brigitte Bardot's hair in the 1960s. I love the effortless full texture with her fringe, and she's beautiful.  It's a good thing fashion always comes back around!

S: What are a few hair tips that every client should know?

R: Always use heat protection when blowdrying or styling with hot tools! Keep your ends looking fresh by scheduling haircuts for every 6-8 weeks. Lastly, don't wash your hair every day. Use dry shampoo at the roots and texturing spray on the ends. It will always style better on day 2 or 3 when it's a little dirty!

R: What inspired you to get into makeup and where do you find inspiration?

S: I grew up with three sisters and my mom was a beautician. I always enjoyed painting my own face and have been drawn to makeup's transformative powers ever since I can remember. I find inspiration in color, human emotion and in other creative artists.

R: If you were stranded on a desert island, what are three products you couldn't live with out?

S: This is so hard to answer! Must-have items for me at the moment would be: Mario Badescu Herb and Rosewater facial spray, It Cosmetics CC Cream with spf 50, Tata Harper Volumizing Lip and Cheek tint.

R: What's the best beauty advice you can give your clients?

S: Many people neglect a skin care routine. It's crucial to exfoliate and moisturize to help maintain healthy, glowing, skin. This also helps foundation to sit smoother on the skin's surface. Skin is in people...So slough the rough and keep moisturized! Don't skip your SPF either.
